INFORMATION ON COVID-19

*** See AFTER HOURS CARE page for updated info during COVID-19

***FOR PHONE APPOINTMENTS YOU WILL BE GETTING CALLS FROM BLOCKED NUMBERS - PLEASE ANSWER
As we face COVID-19 in our community, we want to provide some guidance and review our new office procedures. Our goal is to minimize potential exposure for everyone while freeing up resources to attend to those who require urgent care. The cancellation of appointments is an inconvenience, but necessary to minimize potential exposure to everyone - especially for our most vulnerable patients. Please be kind to our secretaries and remember that they are part of the team putting themselves at risk to provide you with quality care.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU ARE SICK?
If you are mildly ill (i.e. cold symptoms, mild flu symptoms), stay home and please go to the public health website to fill out the COVID-19 Assessment Questionnaire (click here). After answering a few questions, you will be given instructions to self-monitor, self-isolate, call our office, go to an assessment centre or go to the ER. We do not want you to be exposed to possible COVID-19 patients at an assessment centre unless absolutely necessary.
If you have shortness of breath, chest pain or light headedness, put on a mask and proceed to the hospital. Do not take public transit.

STARTING IMMEDIATELY, WHAT IS CHANGING AT OUR OFFICE?
▪We will no longer book routine appointments  like periodic health assessments during this pandemic (in line with provincial recommendations)
▪If you need a prescription renewal, please phone your pharmacy to fax a request to 416-282-9545. No fee will be charged during this time.
▪All new appointment requests will be booked as a telephone or virtual (evisit) appointment first. A doctor at the office will call you back and determine if an in-person visit is required.

▪All new appointment requests will be booked as a telephone or virtual (evisit) appointment first.  All patients that need to physically come into clinic will be screened twice: once by a  physician during a virtual visit prior to an in-person appointment being confirmed and then a second time by a staff at the door before entering clinic.

▪PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE OFFICE WITHOUT CALLING FIRST Please understand that appointments must be scheduled this way so that we can keep our pregnant and newborn patients, who must come in, separated from the rest of our patients. Please do not come in early for your appointment.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF?
1. Do not panic.
2. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available.
3. Do not touch your face
4. In public, minimize prolonged contact (more than 10 mins) and close contact (less than 2 meters)

WHAT IS SOCIAL DISTANCING?
Social distancing is avoiding social gatherings, busy places or travelling. This prevents the transmission of a highly contagious disease and slows down the rate of new cases. Medical resources are finite, and this prevents hospitals from being overwhelmed. Even if you are young and healthy, please consider the risk you may pose on the elderly or chronically ill.

WHERE ARE THE ASSESSMENT CENTRES?

For your safety, do not attend an assessment centre unless you are directed to do so.
